Driver Tony Southwell, a.k.a. Wild Thing, has been involved in NASCAR since it's inception in Australia in 1988, as crew member, driver and team owner. First speedway race ¼ mile track in Canberra (Australia's Capital City) in 1980 won first 4 heats off the back (full field) ran second in the feature, again off the back.
Won legends of speed race on the banks of Lake Burly Griffin.1991 (Canberra)
Won over 90% of all Speedway & Short track races entered over a 12 year period.
Finished 8th in first NASCAR race after being lapped by Rodney Combs.1990.
"The Fireworks King" Chev Monte Carlo NASCAR fastest ever race car in any division down Conrod straight at Bathurst (200.37 MPH)(319.76 KMH), 1998.(Record still stands 2011)
Presented with Best Appearing Car & Crew in 1999-2000 Season.
Second Fastest at Calder Park Thunderdome 1999-2000 Season behind then current and three time Australian NASCAR Champion Kim Jane. (193 MPH)(312 KMH)
Won the first ever NASCAR race held at Queensland International Raceway after qualifying on poll, 2001.
Second in the 2001 Australian Stock Car Championship, would have won only for losing an engine at the second last round. 3 poles, 3 wins, 4 seconds, & 2 thirds in 2001 Australian Stock Car Championship.
